1. RTFM. There is a link to the Language Reference manual at the top of this page, and the various options of COMP are thoroughly explained in the mainual.

2. RTFM.

3. "Better" is a subjective term. If you need to do floating point arithmetic, then COMP would be a really bad choice. If you are writing values to a file and they must be human-readable, NONE of the COMP formats would be a good choice. So the answer to this question is that it depends.

You need to leave this forum, which is for professionals, and go to the Beginners and Students Forum which is MUCH more suited for this type of question.
