THE POSITION
The County of San Bernardino is accepting applications for a Database Administrator II* to maintain a variety of computer systems and perform database design and administration for the Information Services Department. This position requires specialized types of expertise in Database Administration, Systems Programming, and Application Support.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
Work Hours: Some positions in this classification may be assigned to a schedule of less than full-time (80 hours) per two-week pay period.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Database Administrator II
Education: Thirty (30) semester (45 quarter) units of completed, post-high school coursework from an accredited university or technical school in Computer Sciences, or closely related field. A list of coursework must be submitted with the application.
AND
Experience: Three (3) years of experience, within the last five (5) years, working as an IMS and/or DB2 database administrator in an OS/390 and/or z/OS environment. Must have experience with DB Monitoring tool (Mainview, Omegamon, etc.), DB2/IMS database disaster recovery, performance tuning, capacity planning, QMF, IMS database tools, JCL, SMP/E, and APPC/IMS.
An additional two (2) years of qualifying experience may substitute for the required education. An equivalent combination of training, education, and experience may be considered.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
A bachelor's degree in computer science. Knowledge of Mainview for IMS/DB2, ISPF, COBOL, ADF, BTS, DB2 connect, Shadow Direct, and full systems development life cycle. Experience with supporting application development teams using IMS and/or DB2.
SELECTION PROCESS
There will be a competitive evaluation of qualifications based on the Application and Supplemental Questionnaire. The most highly qualified candidates, based on the results of the evaluation, may be referred to the department for a selection interview.
