Hi

I have a problem with one of my instaltions where HSM will not use any ATL. The ATL is defined correctly and the ACS routine test is successful but if we try to use the ATL we get messages indicating that there is no UNIT's available.
We use the latest version of TLMS and if we write to stand-alone drives it works fine.
I do know that some time (5-6 years) ago the ARCTVEXT was altered by one of the sysprogs and we have upgraded our operating system a number of times sinse then.
Is there other exits that need to be checked and what other limitations would there be to use the ATL?

Kind Regards
Karl Abrahams

TLMS is a product of Computer Associates International,Inc.... Probably best to seek your cutomer support rep. with the Versions of all your systems that have been changed.

Here;s an example question posted about a similar event with tape prob's:

Re: Problem with interface TSM 4.130 and TLMS 5.5 in OS/390 environment

Is your ARCTVEXT available? Did you code DELETIONEXIT(ARCTVEXT) in your
server options? TLMS supplies it's own version of the ARCTVEXT that you need
to use, not the IBM supplied default.

This is not saying that this is your answer... Version verify is key and customer CE input is my opinion.

Hi Michael

Thanks for the suggestions and it just varifies exactly what I suspected all along.
Will update as and when the problem is resolved.

Have you got the unit/esoteric name correct in the HSM parmlib's SETSYS parameters to match what's defined for the ATL?

e.g.
TAPEMIGRATION(DIRECT(TAPE(esoteric))
BACKUP(TAPE(b]esoteric[/b]))
UNITNAME(b]esoteric[/b)

Hi Pete

We have double checked and this all correct.
We created a different esoteric for the ATL and this never worked as well.
