Hello and welcome to the forum,
Why does someone believe it is appropriate to write messages to the console?
Most organizaton s no longer permit this. . . |

I do not believe having this clutter on the console will be any help to you. Possibly you do not realize how quickly lines scroll off the concole and then you would have to search for them - tedious at best.
Suggest you do as DBZ recommended and write these to SYSOUT where all of your messages will be together. |

I think I am not confusing you all.My requirement is to post a message on the console (Hilite / WTOR ). Just to notify the Operator ;) |

Hello,
There is NO need to post a message to the computer operator for test jobs. . .
WHY does someone believe this is necessary or even acceptable? |

Using the SAY command will not emulate a WTOR,
sorry about that.
What REPLY are you expecting?
this is a mainframe environment not a PC.
there could be a 1000 tasks running,
and if you expect an operator to intervene for some test BS
you have not interpreted your requirements properly.
why don't you start over and explain exactly what you are trying to accomplish.
otherwise,
look at the manuals how
to have REXX invoke a GCS Macro like WTOR. |

Does ALXRWTOR from BILL SWEENEY help you? Have a look.
PS.: Needless to say, I hope you've considered what Dick, Dick and Enrico have said. |

I am not sure what ALXRWTOR does, but it should be frowned upon to use such a product (as I envision it).
If you (actually, not you, but someone with malicious intent) can issue console messages that simulate legitimate system messages, it may be feasible to trick the operator to responding inappropriately. |
