Hi,
I have to create a vsam file with a record containing some dummy data. Is it possible through the same job to
1)Create a VSAM file
2)Insert a dummy record into it. |

Your post lacks critical information -- for example, a VSAM file can be ESDS, KSDS, RRDS, linear, and these use different parameters and are all accessed differently.
Click on the Manuals link at the top of this page, find the VSAM Services for DFSMS manual, open it, and read up on the DEFINE CLUSTER and REPRO options of IDCAMS. |

Sure -
01) Define Cluster
02) Repro Dummy Data (as a file) into the newly created file from step 01 as a single record.
Easy stuff.... |
