Hi,
When I am reviewing HOLDDATA for an IMS RSU (my first assignment!!) .... I am not sure if I have understood the following extract properly....
++NULL /********************************************************/.
++RELEASE(JADLA1B) FMID(JADLA1B) REASON(AM16287) ERROR DATE(10168).
++HOLD(JADLA1B) FMID(JADLA1B) REASON(WM16287) ERROR DATE(10168)
COMMENT(SMRTDATA(SYMP(FUL) CHGDT(100617)))
CLASS(HIPER).
++RELEASE(JADLA12) FMID(JADLA12) REASON(AM16287) ERROR DATE(10168).
++HOLD(JADLA12) FMID(JADLA12) REASON(CM16287) ERROR DATE(10168)
COMMENT(SMRTDATA(SYMP(FUL) CHGDT(100617)))
CLASS(HIPER).
My doubts is: The very first entry is ++RELEASE(JADLA1B) FMID(JADLA1B) and there is a HOLD statement following for the same FMID (different reason though)!
My understanding of this is: The first appearing RELEASE statement is for the HOLD statement that must have appeared in the earlier HOLDDATA and this RELEASE statement in not linked to the HOLD statement that is following it in the above extract. The RELEASE statement is linked to a HOLD statement only if RELEASE statement is following the HOLD statement with same values of FMID and REASON.
Please correct me if my understanding is wrong. Also, my understanding of HOLDDATA is not 100% I guess, any layman type explanation would greatly help! I have referred the manuals and google for the same...it has helped...but I still cant make bold statements on HOLDDATA |

Have you read the SMP/E Reference manual? 2.8 ++HOLD MCS would be a good starting point, although you may want to branch into the SMP/E Commands manual as well. |

Thanks Robert.
Sounds like there is no easier way! I have read the SMP/E manuals, may be I am too new to sys programming to feel confident about the things I am seeing and reading! This is my first RSU upgrade task...and I was preparing to run APPLY CHECK!
Thanks again...I will go back to manuals. |
