When I used the working-storage variable which i have declared in the Working-storage section in the query (something like :ws-key1) , it din't accept it saying Ws-key1 is not a host-variable.

Why can't I use a ws-variable in this way ?

When I search this topic in the internet i could see many postings saying we can use the ws-variable as host-variable ... Please Clarify this ....
Thanks in Advance.

your paraphrasing of 'exact' error messages is useless.

tell us the exact message that the pre-compiler/coprocessor provided.

are you using a pre-compiler and is ws-key1 contained in a copybook?

And, with what have been posted - hope you've NOT missed the ":" for the so called host-variable in the actual program.

If it is from the FILE SECTION, there are some topics you can search for on this site which explain why that won't work.
