Greetings.

What exactly does the field "Create Time" mean in a "DFSMSrmm Data Set Details"-display for a multi-volume set? Is it the time at which the data set was OPENed (initial OPEN, first volser) or the time at which the data set was first written to (OPENed) on this particular volume in the multi-volume set?

I think the create time field is the time at which the dataset was first written on that "particular volume"
Examined a few tape datasets,
Code:

DSN             VOLSER   VOLSEQ   Create Date time
WELLS.DATASET1   L22979   1   11DEC07:14:40:52
WELLS.DATASET1   L23034   2   11DEC07:14:43:15
WELLS.DATASET1   L23719   3   11DEC07:14:44:56
WELLS.DATASET2   L49327   1   20JAN08:09:46:40
WELLS.DATASET2   L27158   2   20JAN08:09:47:15
WELLS.DATASET2   L27386   3   20JAN08:09:47:38
WELLS.DATASET2   L00555   4   20JAN08:09:48:00
WELLS.DATASET2   L29196   5   20JAN08:09:48:26
WELLS.DATASET3   L28992   1   27JAN08:08:48:06
WELLS.DATASET3   L29929   2   27JAN08:08:50:04
WELLS.DATASET3   L49187   3   27JAN08:08:51:11

Multivolume tape datasets arranged based on VOLSEQENCE have increasing create date values, so the create time value must be the time at which the dataset was written into that particular volume.
