Hi,
I want to copy a flat file from another file without creating space and other parameters for new file.The new file should take old file's disp,space and paramets.

any idea please help

Read about LIKE in the fine manual.

DISP is not an attribute of a file, it is a JCL parameter.

Is the old data set under SMS? Will the new data set be under SMS?

We can help you, but you have to make at least SOME effort and answer some basic questions before you can be helped.

Hello,

Probably not what you want, but you could backup the file (say using DFDSS) and restore it to a new dataset name. . .

yes both are SMS based.
Thanks all. The LIKE keyword worked.

I had forgot the LIKE keyword but couldn't find it in my google
search.may be I didn't tell google properly what I wanted
