Hi,
i want to write an sort card to write duplicate records into one file and non duplicates into another file...for this i have used xsum command but our system is not supporting xsum command...
Could you please help me how to get above sort using icetool ?

Hi,
are you using DFSORT or SYNCSORT ?
As you have not shown any of your output, I'm guessing that you are using DFSORT as the XSUM parameter is a SYNCSORT function.
So look for ALLDUPS and DISCARD parameters.

The error message that iam getting is...
"Xsum is not supported - use icetool select if appropriate outfile" |

XSUM is a syncsort function
You need to use COPY , DISC search google for ICETOOL guide
I believe there should be examples in this forum

If you have Smart DFSORT Tricks document, there is an example - Keep dropped duplicate records (XSUM) - Page 35. It will be helpful for you. Check it out.

If you're not familiar with DFSORT and DFSORT's ICETOOL, I'd suggest reading through "z/OS DFSORT: Getting Started". It's an excellent tutorial, with lots of examples, that will show you how to use DFSORT, DFSORT's ICETOOL and DFSORT Symbols. You can access it online, along with all of the other DFSORT books, from:
