Why do you think that you will do a better job than the IMS development team at IBM? |

Hello,
Sounds like a bit of missed communication (maybe mine )
I believe the question is how to use the Debug tool within IMC/DC.
Suggest the answer will be in the IBM documentation (Debug or IMS/DC). I don't "do" IMS, so i can't say which.
IBM support could surely clarify. Keep in mind that the "regular" debugger may not cover IMS/DC. |

Suggest you ask this someone around at your shop, who has used this. Set-up for IBM Debug would vary from shop to shop.
I'm using IBM Debug Tool these days and IMS DC too, but then talking about the set-up at my current shop would do no good to you. |

BTS (Batch Terminal Simulator, an IBM product) is a popular way to test an IMS online program under your TSO session. Given the right setup, it will invoke Debug Tool. See the Debug Tool user guide for details.
A less popular way is to invoke Debug Tool from a real IMS MPR (Message Processing Region). If you want to do this you will probably need to talk to your DBA and/or IMS systems programmer. Be prepared to be disappointed by what they tell you; many shops don't allow you do do this. |
