Hi,
I would like to customize the code page conversion (to/from) IBM-1097 & IBM-1098 character sets on zos v1.4 to satisfy the local character set which is totally different for persian characters from the default prepared by IBM-1097 & IBM-1098 character sets.
it seems Websphere MQ on z/OS uses language environments instead of internal tables such as windows and linux which they use some XXXXXXXX.tbl files to perform data(for character strings) conversion.
unfortunately I didn't find any usefull information on the web yet.
can anybody help me or intoduce any usefull link?

what were you using for search terms?
start with the WebSphere MQ Library
reading thru those documents concerning installation,
i am sure you will find appropriate pointers to other manuals. |

Hi
Actually it is a few years which I am responsible for installing and customizing MQseries on OS390 & z/OS and during these years I used to study MQ manuals requrally from concepts and planning to application programming, but as I said unfortunately I haven't find any practical information for customizing a specific conversion table under mainframe MQ. Even I am reading more specific thease days MQ Manuals looking for the issue.
Anyhow I would appreciate anyone have more experince to give me a clue,so I can follow that .

within this pdf:
www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg27005729&aid=1
i found this:

Where to Find the Conversion Tables
The conversion tables are in different directories, depending on the platform. In some cases, such as WebSphere MQ for iSeries, you cannot add conversion tables -- the operating system provides all of the conversion tables you’re going to get. Most of the Unix platforms provide a method for adding conversion tables; all it takes is adding the binary conversion table to acertain directory on the box. |
i know that you are talking mainframe,
but possibly the same restriction for iSeries applies for z/OS.
Also this:
publib.boulder.ibm.com/infocenter/wmqv7/v7r0/index.jsp?topic=%2Fcom.ibm.mq.csqzak.doc%2Ffr20890_.htm
which i assume you have found,
includes this little tidbit:
Quote: |
The default for data conversion is for the conversion to be performed at the target (receiving) system. |
Now, if a CODE page on the mainframe is bad/does not exist,
do the conversion where you can control it, at the server. |

Probably you are right, MQSeries under z/OS uses os conversion tables but I haven't found any document specifically mention it.
actually it seems that code page 1097 is exist under the zos but I don't have any clue how and where to customize it possibly(because I haven't completely read it) with the link who Robert mentioned I can manage to customize an existing code page or even add new CCSID. |
