Hi,

Is it possible to retrieve information from residual data (i.e retrieving data from the reinitialized volume – before writing any new data on those physical tracks)..?
If so, Is there any tool from IBM or ISV Vendors which is used for same..?

Hello and welcome to the forum,

Hopefully, there was a volume backup created before the volume was reinitialized. . .

Whether anything is salvagable may depend on how the volume was reinitialized. Suggest you ask the vendor of the dasd device and the vendor of the initialize utility used.

Hi,

Actually.. Both Hardware and the Initialize Utility used are IBM's..
Just saw in File Aid/master tool, which recovers deleted members from PDS.. without any backup..

So thought there will be some option to recover whole volume with the help of some tools..

Hello,

There is almost no similarity between the contes of an entire volume and the contents of a pds.

When members of a pds are "deleted" or "replaced", the original data is still "there" until a compress of the pds is done.

There may be - but asking IBM would be the best way to get and answer for your specific situation.
