Hi gent's !
Does someone know the max record length of a member i can maintain under endevor.
Thing is, that we will manage the sources of a software we purchased.
The sourcelines are about 132 chars. Fom 1 to 72 is normal coding. From position 85 to 132 is some text.
So is it posible to manage theses members. What are the requirements.
Thanks in advance ! |

UmeySan,
not sure what your problem is.
elements are stored in the endevor db with the same structure, regardless of type.
do you want to preserve data that is contain in columns 85 to 132 in your release tape in the endevor member.
don't think that will work.
can only suggest that you massage the input files and place the data in 85 to 132 on the next (or preceding) line as a comment
(using the comment syntax for the element type).
but, the endevor manual, that is available to your site,
should/will indicate if you can deal with 132 char source lines. |

I've not worked with endevor but once while at a Change-man shop, we purchased a vendor product which has the similar properties. I was involved with Change-Man admin team and it was installed as the "vendor-product" under Change-Man, which happened to be one of the options under it. I would like to think on similar lines and would think that endevor must alos have some seprate option/s to install/maintain such "third-party products", no? |

The source record length is defined on the Endevor TYPE definition. The maximum record length is 32,000 byes. So Endevor can easily be configured by your Endevor Administrator to handle a 132-byte record length.
