Hi All,
I am getting a following error message for a particular volumes in the storage group while doing an Dcollect of the storage group.
IDC21804I FAILURE DURING VVDS/VTOC ACCESS SERVICE PROCESSING - RETURN
IDC21804I CODE WAS X'0C' REASON CODE WAS X'00000012'
IDC21804I VOLSER WAS volser
I had ran the diagnose of the volser VVDS and getting following error message
DIAGNOSE VVDS IFILE(VVDS) LIST
IDC21364I ERROR DETECTED BY DIAGNOSE:
VVDS ENTRY: XXXX.XXXXXXX.XXXX.XXXXXX (N)
RECORD: X'00421000'
OFFSET: X'0002'
REASON: 17 - VTOC ENTRY NOT FOUND
Have tried to run the Delete NVR but gets error like no data set found as its not available in the VTOC DSCB.
The VVDS and VTOC is having the mismatch and the dta set names/records needs to be removed from the VVDS to get the error corrected.
Have tried to reinitialize the voluem by moving the data set to different volumes but unfortunately couple of data sets are in continuous use by CICS and no near date for cics down.
Kindly check and provide any help on this!!. Thanks in advance!! |

The dataset is not on that problematic volume but its available in the another volume. The dataset entry only exists in the vvds and causing the error. I have taken the backup of the dataset and deleted the dataset completely from the system. Tried diagnose and dcollect and giving out same error.
Then restored the dataset and it got allocated in completely different volume successfully. Then again tried diagnose and dcollect, still ending with same error. |

Can you post the JCL used for the DELETE NVR and the error messages and codes issued.
Recall one problem way back when the NVR related to a different catalog than the current alias points to, and had to specify the catalog name in the DELETE NVR statements |

You may need to print out the VVDS and compare the current catalog reference for the alaias against the catalog specified in the NVR / VVR and see if it is different. |
