Is there an alternative to using the 'I SMF' cmd in sdsf? Trying to use SMF to switch to a new dataset and close the old one. |

There's a console command to do the switch. |

Is there a CA product that will do it? |

That would be a question for the CA support web site. There's so many CA products and CA would be vastly better at telling you what their various software products can do. |

Found it, CA ACF2 uses command 'ACFServe SWitch SMF' to do the same as I SMF.
Enrico - Need to dump the smf dataset but the active one needs to be switched to a alternative data set first before you can dump. |

it does not look like a <smarter> alternative, just a different command
again if You told us the full requirement You would get better suggestions

plain wrong
using OPTION(DUMP) will access the MAN datasets in READ only mode
so You can dump the active dataset without switching
check with Your support for the current procedures dealing with SMF |

Why do you need to use a different command when you already have one that does what you want?
If you need to do it in batch, you can run SDSF in batch. |
