We are working on a project where the communication is between two different IBM series machines. The two IBM M/C are IBM3 & IBM-L. The request is routed from Websphere front end in XML format through ADAPTER FRAME WORK. The Adapter frame work issues the request to Driver Cobol program (Which is on IBM3 CICS region). This Driver program Triggers another Cobol CICS program residing on IBM-L CICS region through remote connection.
We are unable to pass more than 16K data through DFHCOMMAREA from IBM-L CICS region to IBM3 CICS region. The program on IBM-L is triggered via Remote connection from IBM3 machine. Please let me know if there is any restriction on amount of data that can be transferred thru COMMAREA between two CICS regions of different IBM machines.
OfCourse, there is limitation in amount of data passed through Commarea. It is 64kb. But I don't think as per your question, there is limitation between amount of data passed between two regions.
At the same time, Machine series dependency could come in to play ( as you might be aware of "above the line" and "below the line" concept ).
I expect other expert's reply postings for this Query.
