Hi All
Basing on various reports and articles in the media it appears like IT market might have huge impact because of global recession in 2012, Could you please post your opinions and thoughts how IT market in India would fare related to Mainframe jobs? What would be the prospects of Mainframe programmers in 2012 in India?
Thanks |

Maybe just cut the poetry and say what you mean :-)
In your first, something little happens, Indian IT is infected by contagion.
In your second, there is contagion, Indian IT is only affected a little. |

Isn't the point really moot??
Provided you have proper skills on 'How to write a GOOD program'? (Which unfortunately is never really taught in most of the Indian colleges), have an analytical approach to your problems, ready to invest time to understand the concepts and read some redbooks or manuals. You can survive such recessions. |

Hello,

An incredibly large number of "users" here (of our forums) are most unwilling to make the investment.

.Completely agree - unless the person has multiple "years experinece", but has always gotten their solutions from others rather than learning and actually doing the work. |

Anyone who 'gets' recursion should never be without a job.
In my view, US has been in recession since 08, just not 'technically' ie not as defined by the 'experts'. In my area (central US) the IT job market is definitely picking up (not necessarily cobol/mainframe). I measure this by periodically checking CareerBuilder.com for a couple keywords. Since 08 I've been seeing anywhere from 25 to 50-70 jobs. End of last year I was see 150+.
Companies will only defer hiring for so long, recession or not.
edit; yay 100th post! |
