Hi All,

Any one has any idea why a VSAM Dataset are getting Migrated to ML1 through HMIG command when the MC PRIMARY DAYS is 9999.
I have checked the ACS routines, nothing as such for this MC is specfied.

Thank you in advance

HMIG is an instruction which when used will ignore most of the ACS rules, because the nice computer will assume that the issuer knows what he his doing icon_lol.gif

Really no different to a DELETE instruction. The ACS says keep for 300 days but the DELETE overrides that.

Hi,
I have tested all other Management Class with PRIMARY DAYS 9999, they doesn't allow me to migrate to ML1, however I face problem only with the current. Do you guys think I should be checking anything else?

The primary days setting does not affect the manual migration of any datasets, however the commands permitted as defined in the management class may vary, i.e. no command migration allowed.

You need to have a talk with your storage management people.

Thank you for the reply.
So does that mean if CMD/AUTO MIGRATE has COMMAND, we can issue HMIG and migrate to only ML1 and not ML2 if we have something like below?

MGMTCLAS PRIMARY LEVEL 1 CMD/AUTO
NAME DAYS DAYS MIGRATE
--(2)--- ---(7)-- -- (8)-- -- (9)---
MQTRTD 9999 9999 COMMAND

You may or may not be able to migrate directly to ML2 depending on your ACS settings and current circumstances in relation to backups

Hi Expat,

Thank you for the reply, however can you please try to be more specific when you say "ACS settings and current circumstances in relation to backups", for my better understanding.

I browsed through the ACS routines which has nothing specific related to ML2 Migration. But I am not sure what you mean to say "In relation to backups".
