Hi,
I tried running a unload today to unload 2 columns of a table using DB2 unload utility.
The output file was getting created as VB.
Is there some option where I can create the file as FB? |

What unload utility are you using? |

If everything else is fine then with the information in hand, suggest you write another SORT step, in your Job, to have VB to FB conversion. |

as usual, no response from TS.
problem with changing an unload, after the fact from vb to fb,
the SYSPUNCH will not be insync.
it is better to use sql in the unload - with the PARMS(SQL) parm
and cast columns to fixed length to force a fixed length unload file
and the mask will match incase a LOAD is later required.
running a second step to convert the file
is the way someone who is not proficient with the db2 utilities handles the problem. |

That's why I played safe and said:

Hi All,
Sorry for the late response... There are two columns in the table. Both are char(10).
Yes, I can write a sort to convert VB to FB. But my question here was if there is some parameter which can be used in the Unload control card to create a FB file. |

Are you using the DSNTIUAL unload utility? Do you select the column as is (no functions)? If so then it should create a FB dataset.
Read the manual "DB2 Utilities Guide and Reference" appendix D for the productivity aid sample programs. |
