Hi all,
I'm facing an issue in recovering one of IMS DBs using Image copy with the utility RVPUMAIN. I've two related datasets defined to my main database and two secondary indexes. The error log is read as below.
For your understanding, A1 is my main database, A2 and A3 are related database datasets. X1 and X2 are indexes on it.
Code: |
LICENSE CHECK BYPASSED
THE LARGEST RECORD REPORT WILL NOT BE PRODUCED.
THE RECORD DISTRIBUTION REPORT WILL NOT BE PRODUCED.
A VSAM EXCEPTION OCCURRED DURING EXECUTION OF A OPEN ACB REQUEST (MODULE DB
VSAM STATUS - FOR FILE "A2", THE ACB OPERANDS WERE INCONSISTENT OR THEY DI
VSAM INFORMATION: REQUEST=OPEN ACB , RETURN CODE=0008, FEEDBACK=00A0, CONTROL
UNABLE TO OPEN DATA BASE DATA SET WITH DD NAME "A2".
INDEX "X2" WILL BE BUILT AS AN EMPTY INDEX.
THE INDEX HAS BEEN SUCCESSFULLY BUILT.
INDEX "X1" WILL BE BUILT AS AN EMPTY INDEX.
THE INDEX HAS BEEN SUCCESSFULLY BUILT. |
Can anyone throw some light on this issue?
Thanks,
Reni. |

search the manuals for the meaning and he actions to be taken when a VSAM open fails with the above RC/FDBK
You should have also received an IDC... message
start from there and follow the indications of the manual |

Do you have any VSAM messages? Do those lead you to a shareoptions problem? |

Hi,
I've checked for VSAM error messages and I couldn't find any IDC msgs. But I've few IDI messages which relates the VSAM open error with the ACB. For your better understanding, I'm quoting the error log along with the IDI and DBO error codes as below:
Code: |
ITK0106I LICENSE CHECK BYPASSED
0DBOB000I THE LARGEST RECORD REPORT WILL NOT BE PRODUCED.
0DBOB001I THE RECORD DISTRIBUTION REPORT WILL NOT BE PRODUCED.
0IDI1208I A VSAM EXCEPTION OCCURRED DURING EXECUTION OF A OPEN ACB REQUEST
IDI1200I VSAM STATUS - FOR FILE "A2", THE ACB OPERANDS WERE INCONSISTENT
IDI1207I VSAM INFORMATION: REQUEST=OPEN ACB , RETURN CODE=0008, FEEDBACK=00A
0DBO7101E UNABLE TO OPEN DATA BASE DATA SET WITH DD NAME "A2".
0DBO9700I INDEX "X2" WILL BE BUILT AS AN EMPTY INDEX.
0DBO9704I THE INDEX HAS BEEN SUCCESSFULLY BUILT.
0DBO9700I INDEX "X1" WILL BE BUILT AS AN EMPTY INDEX.
0DBO9704I THE INDEX HAS BEEN SUCCESSFULLY BUILT. |
Kindly have a look to see if something comes to your mind.
Thanks for your help,
Reni. |

RVPUMAN, ITK.... DBO.... IDI.... do not appear on any of the IMS manuals
they look like BMC stuff
the best thing to do is to ask Your support to provide You the proper manuals
so that You can read them Yourself
or ask Your support to read them for You
since BMC manuals are copyrighted, nor linkable, nor postable
the chances of somebody doing Your problem determination and solving are pretty slim |

IDI might be IBM's Fault Analyzer. |

but then lookat should be able to find it
and still in the job log the IDC messages should be there
searched the ...
zOS diagnosis, fault ananlyzer bookshelf, IMS bookshelf, ims tools bookshelf
for IDI and DBO and no match was found ( but searching for some other three letters message identifiers returned the proper hits )
I <mildly> suggest to follow the initial suggestion
in house search for the message manuals related to utilities and environment used |

Hi enrico,
Yes what you said is correct. There is IDC messages, but no error messages. It's all allocation success messages.
Anyhow as you suggested, I've received the CA manuals and going through them to see if there is any clue to help me out.
Thanks for your time. I'll update if I've any luck.
Regards,
Reni. |
