Dick's comments do not tie up with the immediately preceding post which, on my screen, does NOT show a jobcard and shows PGM=IKJEFT01 not IEFBR14. So what is screwed up? The forum software? or something else? I have had similar things happen before on this forum. |

I believe that the TS has edited his post instead of, or in addition to, his actual JCL. I too have have seen similar phenomena, motivated by what I do not care to speculate on. |

From what i can tell, this is due to people being people. . .
Sometimes topics are split while someone is posting a reply. Sometimes topics are edited after someone has brought them up on their screen, so they don't have the "current" content. Sometimes replies get out of sync due to several replies at about the same time.
I'm sure i don't understand it all. . . |

1) Did you check the output from the job. It may show a reason for the recalls not being actioned.
2) Do your storage management team have a hold on recalls during certain periods of the day.
3) Do your storage management team have a software product which stores recall requests and only processes them on an hourly interval.
4) Does your HSM subsystem use shared recall queue and will execute the recalls on a different LPAR
5) Are you expecting large datasets to be recalled instantly.
6) Are there any tape availability issues with either drives or the required volume(s) not being available at that moment in time.
Just a couple of things to keep you busy finding out. |
