Hi yaa....
I have the following PSB on my DBD SDP42DBD
PCB TYPE=DB,
DBDNAME=SDP42DBD
PROCOPT=G,
KEYLEN=7
SENSEG NAME=SSP42MPR,
PARENT=0,
PROCOPT=A
SENSEG NAME=SSP42SPR,
PARENT=SSP42MPR,
PROCOPT=A
Now PROCOPT=G on SDP42DBD means that the DBD has read only access.... But its specified in segments as PROCOPT=A which means they have all access.....
Can I still go ahead and Insert a record into this database???? |

and one more question is can I just create a PSB on my own and use it in the program???
or is there anything else we need to do before using a PSB |

1) PROCOPT will have precedence at segment level. The one defined at database level gets overridden with the one at segment level. Hence the insert and all other update operations would work fine with the segment.
2)PSB creation and usage :- You can create a PSB but yet to use it, you need to do a PSB decode using IMS utilities. Also before using these self created PSBs, you need to check with your DBA whether you had provision to use them directly by your programs. Again this would be environment specific. |
