Hi,
When I map a file using a copybook in file-aid a particular 2 fields shows as values 'INVALID' but if I browse using option 3.4 i can see the values.
Below is the screen shots of those 2 fields when I map using a copybook:-
PROVIDER-PAID-AMOUNT
9/NUM
(301-309)
55------------------
************* TOP OF
INVALID
INVALID
INVALID
INVALID
INVALID
INVALID
SERVICE-UNITS
7/NUM
(186-192)
45-----------
DATA *******
INVALID
INVALID
INVALID
INVALID
Could anyone please let me know why is this.
Thanks. |

no we cant....
the reason is you have only given half of the info....show us the details via 3.4 option and set the HEX to ON.
Only then we might be able to help you. |

Mmmm... looks invalid enough to me, in that the value does not conform to a numeric display picture.
That is even when looking at it "Code"d, so we can see the spacing!
You have four leading blanks/spaces (the hex 40's). Shouldn't be lying around in a PIC 9(n) field. You're lucky FileAid caught it for you, as it is not the sort of thing which makes your program go S0C7. |

ahem... when I said to show us the details I meant to use BBcode..
Please use that format so that we can help you better.....whatever you have put there is seriously unformatted and I have better things to do than solve petty formatting issues...
Plus where is the copybook structure....???? |

...although it might come back when the TS wants to know the exciting way he has achieved this in his Cobol program...
Better to start a new topic for that, hint, hint, kumar1234. |

or even look at the many topics discussing character and numeric and keeping them straight.
Almost 4 years on the board and TS has still not found the 'Code' button. |
