Difference between gdg genertion and version

can any body let me know the difference between GDG generation and Version.

When you have a new question (in any forum) you need to start a new topic in the appropriate part of that forum.

A simple answer to your question is that you will use generations all of the time and will probably never use versions. If you want all of the detail, suggest you look at the other topics or in the IBM manuals. You want to read in the DFSMS Using Data Sets for your release of z/OS.
