Hi,
I have seen the ddname SNAPER in several jcl procedures but upon digging further as to where & for what it is used, i couldnot find it. Also, this appears on some procs in this forum. This means that this is not a user specific ddname and appears to be a system defined one.

Code:

//SNAPER   DD  SYSOUT=&SOUTJ
//*

Can anybody explain the use of this ddname?

Thank you.

Yup, for more than 40 years. . . icon_smile.gif

This was a required statement in each step of batch jobs that ran anything other than some IEwhatever utility on several systems i've worked on.
