Where are you trying to download the file from? What do you mean by downloading exactly(Is it FTP PULL?)

Searching the forum using google with search argument
"FTP a file site:ibmmainframes.com" returned many results with sample JCLs.. (The search button on the forum does not work for me though :S)

Since JCL executes on the mainframe, just where are you downloading from, and where are you planning on downloading to?

when you have answered Robert's question,
answer this one also:

do you have connect direct on your mainframe?

and if you reply "that you don't know"
i feel fully justified with the following comment:

[IMUO]
so many questions posed on this forum
indicate that people do not bother to inquire about available facilities at their site.

it is hard to believe that someone would give the TS
(someone who apparently has little or no data processing experience
as well no idea what is available on his/her own machine
or how things are done)

a requirement for something that is not available at the site
and expect the TS to come-up with something on his/her own.
