Hi,
I have a doubt regarding PF1 facility for CICS screens used in our shop.
Assume when i press PF1 by placing cursor on some screen field, a pop-up appears which shows allowable values for that field and some details.
But my doubt there is no code written in the program to enable this function.
Also i asked my superiors, they told it was read from a VSAM cluster. But that VSAM cluster is not used in the program.
Is this facility available from IBM/CICS itself or any software package.
Please share your thoughts.
Thanks

Your shop can purchase a 3rd-Party product or you can write it yourself.
There isn't any PF1 functionality built into CICS for what you need or anything else for that matter.
Your "superiors" are incorrect in their assessment of this being built into CICS....

Are you saying that various CICS screens in your system have this facility? Then it is probably "home-grown" or possibly a purchased package.
If your program doesn't have it, then that does mean someone hasn't put the code in there, or wherever it has to be.
If other screens have it, ask the people around you or look at the code for those programs and find out what you need to do and what you need to load into the VSAM file.
If you have this, it is site-specific, so it is difficult for us to do much for you. |
