copying a AIX to a flat file

HI i am trying a alternet index dataset to a flat file. But it is executing with a return code 12. It is telling "error opening the AIX file"

say my base cluster name is TKOL005.MS.CLUSTER and the AIX dataset name is TKOL005.MS.CLUSTAR.AIX

pls help me giving some code immediately
