Hi.

One of our client uses DFHSM for space/availability mgmt.My requirement is to find the backup history per storage group or volume.LISTing volume gives the current stats and REPORT command only gives statistical report.
Is there any command for listing the backup history of volume/SG?
Do we have to cleanup the HSM records like we re-organise the FDR ARCHIVE dataset to remove the expired records?
Again we have DFHSM activity logs..is there any other way we could fetch the history through commands? Please give me some pointers to learn.

Talk to the clients Storage people if you can. They may have dataset and volume usage recording set up already using DCOLLECT or something similar like FDREPORT.

DFHSM does clean up its redundant records. The MIGRATIONCLEANUPDAYS parameter setting in it's parmlib decides how long to keep migrated file records after they've been recalled. This happens every time Primary Space Management runs. An HSEND Q SETS command (if you have access to issue it) will show the settings.

The EXPIREBV commands needs to be issued to cleanup old backup versions for NONSMS files, but SMS managed files have backup versions managed via the Management Classes settings that you can view in ISMF;3

Thank You Pete.I understood how the records have been cleared.
I am the storage person and the requirement was to list the previous backup date volume/SG was backed up.I did try some command but it gives only the last backup info.I did not find any COMMAND to display the previous backup info of volumes.
Then info was retrieved from log files. icon_smile.gif
Any suggestions?

If you are using incremental backup, then only the files that have changed since the previous backup cycle will be backed up, so in effect you are not backing up the entire SG, only changes since the last backup.

IMO, backups are something that should be addressed at an application level rather than global set on a given time scale.

Okay expat. In that case i would report on DFHSM AUTO DUMP for volumes.Again the list command gives only the LAST dump date and time.is it possible to list all the existing dump info for a specific volume?
