So, what's the prize going to be for the 100,000th registered member? |

If the prize is of any worth, expect thousands of computer-generated, but authentic-looking, applications arriving shortly. Maybe we even see some sneaky requests about how to do this from "a rexx panel" or "a JCL" or "a Cobol string". |

How about buy them a lottery ticket for being so lucky?
Then I thought to myself, being 100,000th isn't so much. Wandering around the internet I'm for ever finding that I'm the 1,000,000th person to do this or that (get lots of cool software that way, downloaded automatically, somehow. I have the fastest PC in the Universe and my data-transfer light lets me type at night the same as mid-day).
So, being 100,000th is just dumb luck, not even lucky. It was going to be someone anyway.
So, I thought, what about this? Put everyone "into a hat" (figuratively, of course) and pull out a winner. Then they get the lottery ticket.
Such a good idea, and the Euromillions lottery this Friday is > 60m euros, I bought the ticket already.
Then, how do we do "the hat". I remembered an old bit of Assembler from prize drawers we used to do (don't get me wrong, I just used the macro in Assembler, I did all the other stuff in Cobol and called the routine for the numbers). I dug it out, dusted it off, gave it a spray-or-two of WD40 in case it had got rusty, and got it rolling.
Ready to go, I thought. I'm sure I'll get almost universal agreement on this (the 100,000th person won't agree) so I went ahead and ran it.
Guess what! I won! Yipee! Ah. I realised then that no-one (in their right mind) would believe me. So I ran it again. It was me again! And a third time! Satisfied that you'll all believe me now, I'll keep the ticket and hope my luck holds until Friday. |

Of course, we go early so the 100,000th doesn't get an actual chance to complain! They're not so special, just the next one along. Could have been a bus. |

99598 at this end, however, that's the correct count. As Bill says, we're preparing for a little distant thing! |

Not all that distant; I believe that we've added 30 members between your note and mine. We may well see member #100,000 by the end of this month. |

Yep, quite possibly, there is a difference of 18 between Nic's note and mine.... They are increasing rapidly, more speed than the increasing rate of non-qualified zOS programmers in the Forums..! |

There must be a lot of members with <5(or so) posts. Is there a process already in place to remove/delete such accounts? If not, can we have one?
Scrolling through the memberlist is a pain specially if one wants to do search based on userid in alphabetical order. |

Hello,
Why do you want "to do search based on userid in alphabetical order"?
Are you looking for posts by someone and are not sure how their id is spelled, use the SEARCH (above in the blue line). For example if you wantend to "find" me, use dick* as the "Search for Author:" value. Try it on some id you are looking for and see if this does what you want. |

The 100,000th member is arriving soon (currently 99875, so get those party-hats knitted).
Now there is a proposal, to make it easier to go through the member list alphabetically , to remove members with less than five posts.
Code: |
Before Nihal's Scythe
Members 99875
Zero posts 87408
5>posts>0 5139
After Nihal's Scythe
Members 7328
|
Chance of Scythe being introduced, nil. |

But what it they haven't posted for five years, yet visited yesterday?
Latest prize suggestion, make them "Member of the Month". |
