We are currently trying to eliminate SAS on mainframes in our shop. As a part of the study, we observed a number of jobs executing programs such as SASSBEND, SASSBK00, SASSBSTR, SASSHIS5, SASSHIS8, etc. Upon further analysis, we understood that these are CA-7 related programs which continue to use SASS* names after the UCC took over SASS. As the naming convention involves SAS, we were just worried if this product makes use of any SAS in the background. Can anybody out here help us understand if this product makes use of SAS on mainframes by any means ?

If CA-7 used SAS, it would be using an internal copy separate from the copy you pay SAS Institute for. However, as far as I know, there is no relationship between CA-7 and SAS -- the CA-7 program names are just a coincidence.
