Hi,

We have a CICS program PGM1 which calls another CICS program PGM1 by using LINK (or XCTL). In program PGM1, we declare a GTT (Global Temporary Table) and populate that GTT. Now we want to use that GTT in the program PGM2. So my question is do we use a GTT declared and populate in one CICS program and used in another CICS program which is called by either LINK or XCTL.

Are you referring to a TSQ?

i believe a declared tt exists for life of the task in which it was declared.

this is a db2 question, not a cics question.

Yes..the GTT can be accessed in LINKed/XCTLed program...no need to declare it again....But when you use GTT there are few things which hamper the performance ,

1.The work done by DB2 pre compiler during compiling process is skipped and that work is done at run-time.

2.GTT occupies DB2 space which resides outside of CICS system, so there is an overhead to access the details from GTT. Better use different facilities provided by CICS to transfer data between programs.
