Hello,

We have a JobTrac schedule process in place where we are adding some predecessors dynamically to a job using GJTRABTR (UPDATE JOBTRAC SCHEDULER) utility. Our predecessor addition process should be dynamic because these jobs changes everyday depending on some external parameters.
The issue we are facing is sometimes Jobtrac is not releasing the job even after all predecessor jobs are complete. And we have to manually remove predecessor code "p" to release the job. We have run this process about 20 times and it has failed about 5 times.

Can anyone please help us out if this is a known issue or you have faced such type of issues before? Also please let me know if you requre any details like SCL defines or JOBs JobTrac audit information.

Thanks in advance

Try schduling the jobs with different schdule ids. I think this might resolve your problem.

Thanks,
Chandra

Check if you've some "time dependency" on that Job? Just a guess though, with the info in hand.

Hi Anuj,

We do not have any time dependency or any other dependency for that job apart from the predecessors added dynamically.
Dep. Codes ==> P does not get automatically removed after the completion of predecessors thus not trigerring the job. As i mentioned, this issue happens only sometimes. And when this issue occues, we manually remove P from Dep. Codes field and release this job.

Thanks,

Well, with that description -- all I can say is there is something which is missing. I used Jobtrac at one of my shops and I was just an Application Developer and not the one who'd create Job-schedules.

A similar thing happened during my tenure there and it was found that there was a time dependecny on the Job in question.
