Hi,

I need information regarding Tape files. Suppose, I create a tape file in development area. How long it can be retrived? i.e., How long this file will be available. I am creating a tape file without GDG. Its not a GDG version.

Could anyone please let me know about this?

Thanks,
Sunil.

We ARE NOT responsible for the data retention policies in force at your site, so will have absolutely NO IDEA of the answer to your questions.

You need to speak to YOUR storage management team for answers.

Also, learn the difference between GDG VERSION and GENERATION and then use the correct terminology in future.

Hi,

Just to help you little bit. You can type "TI" before that particular tape file similar to the way you type "V" or "E" for view or edit , and you should able to get some information about that tape file.Let me know if this helps. Thanks.

I didn't know about TI. Any other tape file goodies?

I've been on the 360 series since 1967. How long has TI been around?

TANUJ_M/F should have mentioned that the TI functionality is part of DFSMSrmm, which not all sites have installed. If the site does not have this product installed, like mine, using TI returns an error message on the screen.

Very nice command. Screen title is "CA 1 TAPE INQUIRY".

Websearch shows for release 11:
Quote:
ISPF Tape Inquiry (TI) Command
A new Tape Inquiry (TI) command is provided to allow quick lookup of important BrightStor CA-1 information for cataloged tape files.

Yup, if CA-1 is used, there are many tools/toys available<g>.

If one wants to do some higher-volume analysis of tape info, i encourage becoming familiar with EARL (reporting tool). Hopefully, i'm not out of date. . .

instead of being an asshole an listing them,
at the bottom of this link is a list of 189 mp3
it lists the songs, though many are repeated, (same song, different album)

These I remember as new songs.

Does She Have A Friend For Me?
I'll Make The Living If You Make The Loving Worthwhile
Cowboys To Girls
From The Teacher To The Preacher

Something nagging about other tracks, am I going to have to check?
