Hi All,
An application program which is accessing both IMS and DB2 is taking checkpoints for each record processing. Though the checkpoint call successful it s internally skipped by IMS and very few calls are honored. It s because the time frequency has been set within my data center.
Clarification required:
Many of the IMS checkpoint calls are skipped as the record process time within time frequency which has been set. If i control the checkpoint call from the application program to be issued only after certain number of records processed would i improve the process time and cost?
Besides, the checkpoint call is logically releasing the locks it seems (Somewhere i have read). Wouldn't be problem if i use this frequency checkpointing?
Regards,

There was an intensive discussion about this a couple of years ago. Did you search the forum? |

One more thing.......think about WHEN you are running this job. And, you will find discussions in the links. If your databases are small and the job runs very quickly, consider just using backup/restore procedures. You didn't share the size of your database and when your job runs? Checkpoint/restart and frequency is only viable depending on your environment. |
