i don't know whether this is the right place for this topic. Moderators can you place this is some relevant one.

i am currently working on an application which was migrated from (VS COBOL II, DB2) Mainframe to Windows (Micro Focus COBOL, DB2).

One of the programs uses a Dynamic SQL - A varying-list select statement. The program is working fine using the SQLDA on Mainframe. But, it gives junk data while processing the same on Windows.

I have gone through some of the manuals but couldn't find any information on use of SQLDA on Windows. I guess it is some thing related to addressability or the storage. i may be wrong.

As soon as a describe statement is triggered the SQLDA is populated with garbage values like negative values in SQLTYPE.

Can anyone guide me on this?

do not post attachments, not everybody can see them, limiting the number of people who will be able to reply!

but, above all
do not post screen shots

the add nothing to the info You provide and waste resources
a plain text cut and paste from will be more than enough!

if, and only if You are forced to post screen shots use a portable, non proprietary format

some of us do not use windows, and might not be able to open the attachment

Hello,

Suggest you look for a forum somewhere that is Windows/DB2.

We are mostly a mainframe forum so when the question/problem is entirely on the pc, we will probaly not be the best place to ask.

Suggest you also consider db2 support.

Thanks for the tip Dick.

i kind of found out the solution (well almost). Posting it for others to refer.

The SQLDA on mainframe uses COMP or COMP-4 to store values/data. This is valid for IBM platform, but on Intel Machines it should be COMP-5 so as to enable reverse byte ordering from COMP-4.

But, now i am not able to handle the packed decimal to ASCII on my java screens.

Thanks.

packed decimal are an IBM mainframe only data representation
as such java for zOS has the appropriate classes for them
for other platforms packed data conversion should have taken into account
and debated when the migration was planned
