The previous site I worked at had a clever little Clist that would retrieve previous versions of PDS members so long as the PDS had not been compressed.
I have a PDS member that I would like to get the previous version of. Does anyone have a utility that would perform such a function or point me in the direction of the IBM utilities/commands that are required to perform this task, then I can have a go at writing my own.
Many thanks |

I think that PDS from the CBT tape is what you're looking for. |

Whether Google works in Edinburgh or not, it would lead you here. |

www.cbttape.org and look at file #182.
It's sad when someone can't even find a web site when given the name. |

The revive utility on the CBT tape (file 442) is far more user friendly and easier to install (my opinion) |

but....
I would not rely on resurrecting orphans for version tracking.
the PDS might be converted to PDSE, the PDS might have been compressed, and, and, and |

Hello,
What i've found useful is to retrieve the "lost" member(s) from a backup of the pds when someone has this happen. . . |

IMO, tools that recover deleted members from a PDS are for emergency use only. Don't rely on them for routine use.
Backups are much more reliable. |
