Production region is an environment where daily business process happens.
whatever jobs that ran in production, database updation or dataset creation is related to actual business.
we can call production evironment as a business environment. Here systems people take care or monitor the business process(technically) that happens from the customer end.
Prod region has seperate server.test has seperate server.
TCP/IP APPLICATION SELECTION SCREEN is selected depending upon which service you request(test, prod or dev)
Types of region:
Development
Test
Production
hope this helps. |

HI,
Production region where all production jobs have run and all real time work is going on.
Testing region is basically use for test our data.
To go from Production to testing region depends on your shop. In our shop both the region are separate.

It depends on your Mainframe shop. Some time it may be 2 like Test and production, some time RECETE, Pre-prod also added etc.

HI Karthik,
What Radhakrishnan told about the production region is correct. The number of regions depends upon the administrator. Usually there are 3 regions like developing, testing and production regions. It can be further divided into some parts like service management etc.. The regions where I am working are like SOW, SOM,SOP,SOE,PRD regions. These regions are further divided as SOW1,SOW2,SOM1,SOM2...... SOW region is used by offshore developers to modify the modules and to test the modifications. SOP region is used by onsite people to test their modifications. SOM region is used for service management. SOE region is used for some other purpose. PRD region is actual environment where actual real jobs are running. Administrator will provide the privilages to the users. To say about us we have access to browse the modules in PRD region and retrieve the necessary modules from the PRD region. And we have access to SOW region only to test our modifications. We do not have access to other Regions. The modifications which are tested successfully in SOW region are moved to other regions by onsite people who have access to perform that. We donot have any access to move the modules from one region to other. If everything goes correct in unit testing , system testing then they will move to Production region. If our modifications are pumped out in Production region(may be possible), then again we have to retrieve from production and test in SOW region.
Regards,
Mike. |
