i am trying to restore a VSAM file using ADRDSSU:

RESTORE INDDNAME(INDD) -
DATASET(INCLUDE(P3AQ.CP000000.PAUS.VSO.QMSS)) -
RENAMEU((P3AQ.CP000000.PAUS.VSO.QMSS, -
P3AQ.CP000000.PAUS.VSO.QMSS) -
(P3AQ.CP000000.PAUS.VSO.QMSS.A1, -
P3AQ.CP000000.PAUS.VSO.QMSS.A1) -
(P3AQ.CP000000.PAUS.VSO.QMSS.P1, -
P3AQ.CP000000.PAUS.VSO.QMSS.P1)) -
REPLACE -
SPHERE -
TGTGDS(SOURCE) -
CATALOG

i am taking the backup of QMSS file in INDD(GDG) file in diffrent job on previous day and trying to restore it again with the same name in another job today after deleting the QMSS file. But getting the ABEND return code 004.

Have you looked at ADR789W in the messages and codes manuals.

You ARE NOT getting an abend, merely a non zero return code

Mmmmmmmmmmmm, how very strange. two users with exactly the same problem, even the exact same record counts in both threads.

Both topics will be locked until we can discover if this is one person with two uids or merely someones homework.

Please PM me with the details.
