Hi,

Could anyone please able to help me to find out the terminal name for a CICS region through command line ( not through program). I was able to get this through the debugger XPEDitor but unfortunately I can not use the XPED option in production. Does the Netname ( through CECI Assign command) is same as the terminal name? When I checked the both they look different.

Thanks
Deepak

Terminology is critical in IT, where similar terms may mean very different things. "Terminal" in CICS is a device used by a human being (or program) to interact with CICS. As such, a CICS region contains terminals -- a CICS region does not have a terminal name. CICS regions have a VTAM APPLID that applies to the entire region, but this is not a terminal name. Have you tried CECI INQ SYST in the region to review the data available to you already?

Thanks Robert for your reply. I did verify the details in the CECI INQ SYST for the terminal id and unfortunately I could not find the terminal name that I got through the XPED option in the same CICS region( with in the same session).

Could you please advise any other commands over here.

Thanks
Deepak

If you want the terminal name (ID) which you are on (on that particular CICS region) just issue a CEMT I,TASK from your terminal and locate your user ID on the display then you will find the terminal name next to 'FAC'. If you are looking for the system ID or the application ID for that region the you will find it on bottom right of the display. I hope this will help you.

From within your program, EXEC CICS ASSIGN APPLID will return the VTAM APPLID of the given region.

Field EIBTRMID (part of DFHEIBLK) will contain the terminal-id assigned to the particular task.

If not attached to a terminal (such as the case of a STARTED background task), EIBTRMID will equal LOW-VALUES.

Sorry, but you did NOT get the "terminal name" for the "CICS region". . . The CICS region has no terminal name/id.

What you did get was the terminal id of the terminal you are/were using. From the IBM manual:
Quote:
The CEOT command allows you to inquire about the status of your own terminal, and to change some of its values. You cannot use CEOT to inquire about or change the values of any other terminal.
