how to lock the vsam files? how Unlock the Vsam file? What type of errors facing when any operation done on the locked files?

ALTER clustername / password
[ LOCK / UNLOCK ]
to lock the cluster see below example...
ALTER MYESDA1 LOCK

| In my shop,I used to lock the vsam file(used in pgm) in cics region using SET FI option.There are options 'clo' to close ,'ope' to open,'ena' to enable it,'dis' to disable,share and some more. |

u can peform the lock on vsam files using
ALTER
PDS(MEMBER)
INHIBIT
U CAN RELEASE THE LOCK BY
ALTER
PDS(MEMBER)
NOINHIBIT
