the cics manual will tell You all You might want to know
starting from ... ( for example )
CICS Transaction Server for z/OS V3.2 Bookshelf
publibz.boulder.ibm.com/cgi-bin/bookmgr_OS390/Shelves/DFHASJ00

or if that is not the CICS/TS level of Your choice, You can choose the right bookshelf here
z/OS software products bookshelves (A-DB2 UDB)
www-03.ibm.com/systems/z/os/zos/bkserv/zappls1.html

and ... just curious
how is this question related to SMS & VSAM ?
attention to small details is very important in IT
moved where it belongs!

first of all I am not Your dog, so refrain to address me with Hey
maybe it' s common within Your group, but not around civilized people

if You had cared to google for

cics how to retrieve terminal id

You might have found many hits
some of them pointing to topics discussed in these forums

and what is that You do not understand here ?
publibz.boulder.ibm.com/cgi-bin/bookmgr_OS390/BOOKS/dfhp4b06/1.204?ACTION=MATCHES&REQUEST=termid&TYPE=FUZZY&SHELF=DFHASI05.bks&DT=20080118132801&CASE=&searchTopic=TOPIC&searchText=TEXT&searchIndex=INDEX&rank=RANK&ScrollTOP=FIRSTHIT#FIRSTHIT

the best advice that can be given is to stand by Your signature motto icon_biggrin.gif

and be sure that when I point somebody to the manual the info is there and easy to find...

because I do know by experience or I have checked twice before posting the link

Hello,

Why does someone believe the program should use terminal-id?

Keep in mind that in many (most?) places terminal-ids are assigned dynamically. Static ip-addresses are less and less common. . .

If terminal id is being used to control access/functionality, this should be re-designed. . .
