Hi,
Is there any utility to extend/increase retention period or expiration date of tape datasets.
If no, please provide an alternate solution to increase the retention period/expiration date.
P.S. - The dataset name and the volume in which the tape dataset is present should not be changed. The dataset cannot not be deleted (can be uncataloged). |

1. Suggest you contact the Tape Management System at your shop.
2. Do you have access to TMS tools to you, at your shop? |

Do you only want a solution to the problem you have created thru ignorance?
or do you want to know how to create tapes properly the first time?

putting constraints on a possible solution to a problem that you created
by not understanding or implementing proper procedures
is a little stupid.
this may sound a little 'mechanical', but why not:- copy the original tape to another
- delete the original from tape system
- copy 'the another' to what should have been properly created in the first place

Explore use of TMSUPDTE program if you have access. Suggest talking to your Tape Management people first though. |
