Passing parm to an unload jcl

I have a question regarding the IBM DB2 unload utility. I need to unload data from a table "X" based on a date passed through the JCL? is it possible?

Where do you get this date from?

I have come across situations where the unload card is being generated dynamically using sort/rexx to pass parameters.
