hi,
recently I was asked in IBM interview, about FTP?
What is FTP? What method is adopted to transfer files in a company?

HI,
FTP means File Transfer Protocol which is generall used to transfer data from One server to another Server.
You can transfer data from Mainframe to other server. Example if you want to send data from your mainframe to unix data you can use FTP.

FTP = File Transfer Protocol.
FTP is an application layer(7th level of ISO Network Model Standard) part of TCP/IP suite of protocols.
File Transfer Protocol allows file transfer between two computers with login required.
