Compare two VSAM files having different length

Hi everyone,

I need you guys help, I got some requirement like..

I need to compare a particular field from two VSAM files which are having different lengths.

File1 : record length 500... I have to take a field 5:8 (starting pos 5 and length 8) then compare with

file2: record length 48.... compare with field 10:8 (starting pos 10 and length 8).

Give you a clue by asking ....................
Which sort product and release level is installed at your site.

I have SYNCsort tool in my system.

Compare and do what?, you can find a lot of file matching topics here using Syncsort. If that does not match your requirement, please post the complete requirement along with sample input and output data.
