sorry .... but the thing whicch you have told is not working over here...
i change the card as

SORT FIELDS=COPY
OUTREC FIELDS=(20:1,3,55:6,2)

then it is working...!

But if i use OUTREC BUILD then it is giving MAXCC = 16 stating invalid OUTREC statement...

Please clarify on this...!

Which SORT Product, are you using? If you are not sure, please show SYSOUT from the job which ran successfully.

Thanks,

rohanthengal,

DFSORT has supported BUILD since December, 2004. So if FIELDS works but BUILD doesn't, you have a very, very old version of DFSORT!!

Post the //SYSOUT messages you received.

rohanthengal,
You have correct PTF installed to support BUILD. Make sure you are not using OUTREC BUILDS. Unlike, FIELDS, There is no 'S' in the BUILD.

See if below works...
Code:
SORT FIELDS=COPY
OUTREC BUILD=(20:1,3,55:6,2)

Thanks,

Apologize but I take my words back, just noticed your ICE000I message says DFSORT REL 14.0. Not sure what is REL 14.0?

Thanks,

rohanthengal,
Refer to http://ibmmainframes.com/about43332.html.
Pay close attention to the very last post from Dave Betten.

First I'd like to point out that you are running DFSORT Release 14 which is no longer in support. So you may want to determine if you have a more current release like V1R5 or V1R10 available.

Thanks,

rohanthengal,

DFSORT R14 is out of service (no longer supported). BUILD was supported with DFSORT R14 PTF UQ95213 (Dec, 2004). So your site is running an out of service release of DFSORT which is not current on PTFs. I don't know if you can still get a PTF for DFSORT R14. Perhaps you can have your system programmer look into that.

But you really should be using z/OS DFSORT V1R10 (for z/OS 1.10 and 1.11) at this point since z/OS DFSORT V1R5 (for z/OS 1.5-1.9) is going out of service at the end of this month.
