Hi,
I need some info regarding the installation of z/OS DFSORT V1R10 PTF UK51707 (Nov, 2009) for JOINKEYS.
Frank had already suggested in one of my older posts
ibmmainframes.com/viewtopic.php?t=49981&highlight=
that our client mainframe doesn;t support joinkeys. Now we asked our Tech Support guys to install the required PTF for joinkeys. but they are not sure if the the installation of the mentioned PTF will impact the current settings of icetool or not.
Can anybody please tell me that does the installation of z/OS DFSORT V1R10 PTF UK51707 (Nov, 2009) PTF will impact anything? After the installation of this, anything that needs to be checked for any impact/integrity? please suggest.
Thanks

Well, this is the legacy of Frank - but first suggestion would be -- why don't you first contact the DFSort-point-of-contact-for-your-shop? Is the support you mention about is from DFSort-support Team?
Such PTF upgrades never back-fire, IMHO. As a programmer one option, I can think of, is listing the defaults before and after installation and compare them. |

if the PTF has been packaged in the proper way ( and I am sure about that )
reading the cover letter should tell all You want to know about the PTF installation
have Your support review the meaning of the HOLD reasons ACTION/ DOC
ACTION . You must perform some appropriate processing either before or after you apply this sysmod as documented in the cover letter
DOC. There is a documentation change with this sysmod.
anyway a simple google search for UK51707 would have taken You
www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?rs=114&uid=isg3T7000174
where You will find all You need to know about the new functionalities
P.S.
my post is a suggestion on the general approach to system maintenance installation , not strictly DFSORT related |

Huh? What does that mean? ICETOOL doesn't have "settings".
If you mean will it impact the installation options, then the answer is no. This PTF does not affect installation options.
As for other impacts, see "Operational Changes that may require user action" in the paper at:
www.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?rs=114&uid=isg3T7000174
However, the quick answer is "no, they don't have anything to worry about". |
