Hi,

Can any one answer me for the below scenario.

I have 3 steps in my JCL. Output of the First and second steps are GDG's two versions. Using those two version 3rd step creates GDG's 3rd version.
While executing the JCL, getting abend in the 3rd step.

1. Whether the GDG's frist two versions would be created?
2. When restart with step3, will it be executed?

First of all, let us clear up one thing. The correct term is GENERATION.

As you have not bothered to post either the JCL that you have used or the output from thhe run, the answer is

I have absolutely no idea of the results from this scenario.

Why do you want to create three generations in one job? You will get problems during the restarts with this approach. Instead, you can use temporary datasets in the first two steps and GENERATION in the final step...

You seem to miss many details in your question, along with not using the correct terms as expat has already mentioned about.

1. They should be. When you tried it, what happened?
2. For second question, we'd need to know, what you 've coded there - absolute generations or relative? (and if something happens to GDGs in some other job too!)

Hello,

Suggest this process be changed to create a new generaton at the end of the run. Creating multiple generratons in a process causes more problems that it "cures".

Many organizations will not permit such a process to be promoted to production. . .
